If
you are using Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5, or 6.0 you may experience some
trouble using FTP. Here's a fix that may solve your problems:
1
- In Internet Explorer click on TOOLS in the task bar. This will open INTERNET
OPTIONS dialog box.
2 - Click on the ADVANCED tab.
3a - (for 5.0 and 5.5) Under the heading BROWSING, if you find the option
"ENABLE FOLDER VIEW FOR FTP SITES" make sure it is CHECKED.
If you find the option "USE WEB BASED FTP" make sure is is NOT
CHECKED. Depending on your browser version, you will find only one of
these options.
3b
- (for 6.0) Under the heading BROWSING find the option "USE PASSIVE FTP
(FOR FIREWALL AND DSL MODEM CAPABILITY" and make sure this option is
CHECKED.
4 - CLICK OK when you've done this. You may have to shut your computer
all the way down and turn if off, then restart for the changes to take effect,
mostly with early versions and Windows 95.
This
seems like alot of trouble, but it is a Microsoft problem - there's no
other way around it. |
